Prof. Shuzhi Sam Ge, IEEE Fellow, IFAC Fellow, IET Fellow

Biography: Shuzhi Sam Ge, IEEE Fellow, PhD, DIC, BSc, PEng, is a Professor with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, and Director of Social Robotics Laboratory of Smart Systems Institute, the National University of Singapore, Singapore. He received the Ph.D. degree from the Imperial College London, London, U.K., in 1993, and the B.Sc. degree from the Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Beijing, China, in 1986.
He has (co)-authored seven books, and over 300 international journal and conference papers. He is the Editor-in-Chief, International Journal of Social Robotics,Springer. He has served/been serving as an Associate Editor for a number of flagship journals including IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control, IEEE Transactions on Control Systems Technology, IEEE Transactions on Neural Networks, IEEE Transaction on SMC-Systems, and Automatica. He also serves as a book Editor of the Taylor & Francis Automation and Control Engineering Series. At IEEE Control Systems Society, he served/serves as Vice President for Technical Activities, 2009-2010, Vice President of Membership Activities, 2011-2012, Member of Board of Governors of IEEE Control Systems Society, 2007-2009. He is also a Fellow of IFAC, IET, and SAEng. His current research interests include robotics, adaptive control, intelligent systems and artificial intelligence.


Prof. Saman Halgamuge, Fellow of IEEE

Biography: Prof Saman Halgamuge is a Fellow of IEEE, a Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering of School of Electrical, Mechanical and Infrastructure Engineering. He is also one of the IEEE Distinguished Speakers appointed for the theme Computational Intelligence. 
He has previously served as Director/Head, Research School of Engineering of the Australian National University (2016-18) and as a member of Australian Research Council (ARC) College of Experts for Engineering, Information and Computing Sciences (2016-18). He was the founding Director of the PhD training centre Melbourne India Postgraduate Program (MIPP) of University of Melbourne and contributed as Associate Dean (2013-15) and Assistant Dean (2008-13) in International Engagement in the Melbourne School of Engineering. He is also a member of various International advisory committees including the Visiting Committee of Chinese University of Hong Kong (2018) and Research Advisory Council of University of Technology PETRONAS (2015-18). He is an honorary Professor of Australian National University and an honorary member of ANU Energy Change Institute. His research interests are in AI and Data Engineering including Inclusive Learning algorithms and Active data gathering sensor systems, Unsupervised Deep Learning, Big Data Analytics focusing on applications in Mechanical Engineering, Energy and Bioengineering. These applications vary from Sensor Networks in Irrigation, Smart Grids, and Sustainable Energy generation to Bioinformatics and Neuro-Engineering. Prof. Simon X. Yang

University of Guelph, Canada

Biography: Prof. Yang has diversified research expertise. His research interests include robotics, intelligent systems, sensors and multi-sensor fusion, wireless sensor networks, control systems, machine learning, fuzzy systems, and computational neuroscience. His significant research contributions can be reflected by his original and innovative work in biologically inspired intelligence with applications to real-time motion planning, tracking and control of various robotic systems, and various other engineering and biomedical systems. He has published about 450 referred papers, including over 250 journal papers. Prof. Yang he has been very active in various professional activities. Prof. Yang serves as the Editor-in-Chief of International Journal of Robotics and Automation, and an Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Cybernetics, IEEE Transactions of Artificial Intelligence, and several other journals. He has involved in the organization of many international conferences.
